Hospice care is a covered benefit under Medicare for patients whose physician has given a prognosis of 6 months or less if the illness stays on its current path. Hospice coverage is provided by Medicare nationwide, by Medicaid in many states, and by most private insurance providers. 

For almost all patients, all hospice services and hospice supplies are fully covered (paid for) by Medicare, Medicaid, insurance, or a combination of these.
